Abstract
This lecture studies economic development history and current economic issues of South and North Koreas. After comparing North and South Korean economies in terms of basic macro-economic variables like income, growth, industrial structure, and so on, we further study the current economic situation of North Korea after UN Security Council’s sanctions from 2016.
In the final part of this lecture, our understanding of the economic impact of North-South Korea reunification on neighboring countries is provided. For this part, German reunification experiences will be employed as a benchmark of Korean peninsula reunification.
